Hello, my name is Jaime Sánchez, I am 6 years old and I came to live in Exodo with my 3 siblings. My parents used to drink a lot of alcohol and when they were drunk, they would fight with each other and sometimes they would hit us too.

Age

Romania’s fifty years of communist dictatorial rule ended in 1989 leaving a legacy of hardship and ushering in a difficult transition period of social restructuring.
The years of post-communism have brought extreme economic and social adversity, severely affecting the lives of the most vulnerable population--children
Approximately 100,000 children live in state orphanages and foster care

Places of Hope International is committed to helping the children of Romania. The legacy of communism and the restructuring in its aftermath has left a breadth of social and economic dysfunction that affects children on every level. Many children have been abandoned and although are living in state orphanages, the lack of material resources and appropriate healthcare have stifled their natural and healthy development. Dismal conditions in the state hospitals and few healthy alternatives force children to seek solace on the streets, where they fall prey to drugs and the emerging epidemic of child sex traffickers.

Places of Hope is working with children’s ministries in Romania to offer refuge and hope to children who have been otherwise forgotten by society. We see the value in each and every life and work to bring hope to these impoverished and discarded children. With your support we are able to care for thousands of children; giving food, shelter, education, healthcare and best of all---hope for the future.
