India has a population of 1.04 billion, second only to China.
Nearly 40 percent of the total population lives below the poverty level.
Forty seven percent of children under three years of age are malnourished.
An estimated 3.97 million people are living with HIV/AIDS
Many of the 600,000 rural villages in India have no electricity, clean drinking water, or access to schools or medical facilities.

India is a vast land with an enormous population. Abject poverty, lack of clean water, disease, and malnutrition are just a few of the struggles that face rural and urban populations. Many of India’s 400 million children are vulnerable to the common practices of bonded child labor, female infanticide, child trafficking and sexual exploitation. Illiteracy rates are high, especially in the rural villages. The majority of the population has never heard the name of Jesus Christ.

Places of Hope International has been actively involved in ministry to India for over a decade. We have forged a strong alliance with the India Gospel League, a fifty-year-old, national organization that ministers to the people of India with expansive missions, educational initiatives, medical clinics, and training programs.

The ministry currently provides care and education for over 11,000 orphans and underprivileged children. We are blessed to be a part of planting churches, building schools, medical facilities, and funding children’s homes, but our work in India is just beginning. There are so many people to reach, children to invest in, and leaders to train. With your help, we can expand our support to India and insure that each and every person hears the message of Jesus Christ.
