Subina Elumalai lives in the Hebron Home for scavenger children in Thiruvannamalai, located in the state of Tamil Nadu in South India. She is currently in fifth grade. Her father Elumalai works as a tailor. He earns a very low income and is unable to take care of his children's needs. Her mother Thenmozhi stays at home.

Because of poverty and the economic condition in which Subina and her entire family live, it is impossible for them to have even one good meal a day.
